With more than 130 years of tradition, over 1,000,000 members admitted since its founding, a vast array of service work, a historic National Headquarters building with extraordinary collections, and countless activities taking place locally, nationally and globally, there is much to learn about the Daughters of the American Revolution. The organization was founded in 1890 with the simple mission of promoting historic preservation, education and patriotism. These timeless, overarching principles keep the DAR strong and vitally relevant in this ever-changing world.

This non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America's future through better education consists of over 177,000 members in 3,000 chapters across the world. These vibrant, active women are the heart of the organization.
Most of DAR's volunteer work is accomplished
by the grassroots efforts of local chapters
which focus on the mission areas of DAR—historic preservation, education, and patriotism
The Kennewick Chapter DAR was organized on May 15, 1912, and the chapter is still thriving today! Our   members   represent   multiple generations who work together as a “well-oiled machine” to serve our community. We are teachers, lawyers, veterans, mothers, grandmothers, medical professionals, business owners, retirees and a lot more! Come join us!
Meet Today's DAR!
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded on October 11, 1890, during a time that was marked by a revival in patriotism and intense interest in the beginnings of the United States of America. Women felt the desire to express their patriotic feelings and were frustrated by their exclusion from men's organizations formed to perpetuate the memory of ancestors who fought to make this country free and independent. As a result, a group of pioneering women in the nation's capital formed their own organization and the Daughters of the American Revolution has carried the torch of patriotism ever since.
