The name, "Kennewick" is believed to mean "grassy place" and is historically significant in that it was traveled and documented by the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805. Kennewick was officially incorporated in 1905. A few years later, a group of nineteen ladies gathered to form what would become the Kennewick Chapter DAR, chartered May 15, 1912.
Kennewick Chapter supports community classrooms and student recognition programs, food banks, veterans, and much more! We also participate in local parades, festivals and special events. We strive to preserve our historical sites and honor our patriot ancestors!
The DAR sponsors scholarships, student essay contests as well as community service awards. We recognize the leadership and patriotism of local ROTC and Outstanding Cadet programs along with our area first responders, veterans and citizens who've helped secure our city, state and country through our Distinguished Citizen Award Program.
Our chapter meetings are the 2nd Monday of every month from September through May with summer activities and is open to all DAR members and prospective members. For more information on chapter meetings please contact our chapter Membership Chair.
